Solar+Storage in Net Metering Programs

September 13, 2018 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET

Increasingly, solar customers are installing energy storage behind the meter, and solar companies are offering solar+storage products. The addition of storage behind customer meters can require new rules and guidelines to accompany net metering regimes that were not designed with solar+storage in mind.

This webinar examined lessons learned in California and Massachusetts, and will address questions such as: How to protect the integrity of net metering crediting, without imposing undue restrictions or cost burdens on customers? What rules are needed to allow storage to charge from and/or export to the grid? Who owns solar and energy storage capacity rights? And, can solar+storage customers maximize behind-the-meter benefits while participating in net metering programs?

Speakers:

  • Jin Noh, Senior Consultant, Strategen
  • Jamie Dickerson, Policy Analyst, NECEC
  • Todd Olinsky-Paul, Project Director, CESA (moderator)

This webinar was presented by the Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA). Attendance at this webinar was restricted to CESA’s energy storage working group and to CESA members.
