Resilient Power Project

Building the foundation for energy resilient communities

As extreme weather and prolonged power outages become more frequent and severe, clean energy solutions – primarily solar PV paired with battery storage (solar+storage) – can provide resilient, life-saving backup power during emergencies, as well as economic and social benefits during times of regular grid operations.

Through its Resilient Power Project, Clean Energy Group (CEG) accelerates the equitable deployment of solar+storage technologies in historically marginalized and underserved communities. CEG supports and promotes the advancement of inclusive resilient power investments nationwide by offering technical assistance to community-serving organizations that are exploring and developing solar+storage projects, by supporting community energy resilience capacity building, by advancing policies and programs that ensure more equitable access to solar+storage technologies, by preparing and disseminating solar+storage information and resources, and by amplifying community voices through close collaboration with partner organizations and promoting partner successes.

Who We Serve

The communities that would most benefit from resilient power typically have had the least access to these technologies. The Resilient Power Project aims to reverse this trend by supporting the deployment of solar+storage in essential community facilities serving environmental justice communities, low-income communities, and communities of color.

The project incorporates two funding programs to support local efforts:

The Technical Assistance Fund supports community organizations, service providers, affordable housing, and first responders by providing one-on-one technical guidance and by providing funding for communities to engage technical consultants to perform solar+storage feasibility assessments at a specific facility.

The Resilient Power Leadership Initiative awards funding to nonprofit and grassroots organizations to build internal capacity around resilient power. The funding enables organizations to devote more time to their energy resilience efforts, as well as to learn more about how solar+storage can directly benefit the communities they serve.

Project Impact
