CEG's Technical Assistance Fund Engineering Partners
Partnerships with mission-aligned engineering firms are vital to the success of Clean Energy Group’s (CEG) Technical Assistance Fund (TAF).
Predevelopment Support for Solar+Storage Projects
Embarking on the solar+storage development journey can be resource-intensive, requiring organizations to invest time and money in understanding the associated costs and benefits. The TAF aims to break down these barriers by providing tailored one-on-one support throughout the project development process.
CEG enlists the support of a third-party engineering firm to provide expert technical analysis by conducting a feasibility assessment for a specific project. Throughout this process, CEG remains active in conversations with both the community partner and engineer, ensuring the support provided by the engineer is comprehensive, easily digestible, and reflects the community’s goals.
A Comprehensive Report to Guide Next Steps
A feasibility assessment can be a valuable resource that equips community service providers with site-specific information needed to pursue next steps in project development, such as obtaining funding or financing. Through the process of developing a feasibility assessment, CEG and the engineering partner may provide additional detailed support, such as:
- Consultation to ensure each community’s unique economic, environmental and energy resilience goals are prioritized and reflected in the system’s design.
- Analysis of multiple solar and battery storage configurations, including anticipated resilience benefits
- Explanation of anticipated environmental benefits, such as potential emissions reduction.
- Financial modeling for the 20-year lifespan of the system, encompassing upfront installation costs, yearly maintenance, and potential incentives and revenue opportunities to reduce costs.
An Established Engineering Network
Over the past decade, the Technical Assistance Fund has worked with over two dozen engineering partners across the country. These mission-aligned engineers are experienced in providing technical analysis for community partners pursuing solar+storage. CEG’s network includes both engineers that work nationwide, as well as engineers that specialize in certain geographies (such as Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska) or technologies (like mobile solar+storage).
