An Introduction to Resilience Hubs

This short fact sheet introduces the concept of resilience hubs—community facilities equipped to support residents and coordinate resource distribution and services before, during, and after a power outage.

The fact sheet supports community outreach and educational efforts by overviewing how solar combined with energy storage can provide reliable backup power to resilience hubs during emergencies. It describes the various community services that resilience hubs can provide, and it includes examples of community resilience hubs from around the country.

This fact sheet was created as part of the Clean Energy Incentive Navigator Program, a nationwide effort to advance affordable, renewable, and resilient power resources in communities that have historically been left out of the clean energy transition. The Clean Energy Incentive Navigator Program was supported by the Leon Lowenstein Foundation. As this year-long effort comes to a close, Clean Energy Group would like to thank our community partners for joining us in this effort: Baltimore Green Justice Workers Cooperative in Baltimore, Maryland; Empower Our Future in Boulder, Colorado; Forward Together Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Green Building United in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; PUSH Buffalo in Buffalo, New York; and Sustʻāinable Molokai in Kaunakakai, Hawaii. Over the past year, these five organizations have developed community-specific resilient power resources. See a small selection of their work here
