In 2013—after Superstorm Sandy left more than eight million customers without power throughout the Northeast— Clean Energy Group started the Resilient Power Project (RPP) to pursue equitable and innovative strategies to advance resilient power technologies—solar paired with battery storage—in underserved communities. The RPP focuses on resilient power solutions that bring improved health, safety, and economic benefits to the most at-risk populations, such as medically vulnerable households, environmental justice communities, and communities of color. Our top priority is supporting community-based organizations, affordable housing providers, and local government partners in their efforts to bring resilient power resources to their communities. This work includes awareness building, one-on-one technical expertise, capacity building opportunities, and technical assistance funding. The RPP is committed to awarding at least 50 percent of technical assistance funding to BIPOC-led organizations.

This document summarizes some of the key project outcomes of the Resilient Power Project through providing information, knowledge-building support, and technical assistance to organizations working in low-income communities and communities of color across the country.
