U.S. Job Creation in Offshore Wind

December 7, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST

Slides from this webinar are available as a pdf here.

A new report quantifies the job impacts of offshore wind development off the U.S. Northeast from Maine to Maryland. Based on two market scenarios of 4GW and 8 GW by 2030, the study revealed a peak of 8300 to 16,700 full-time equivalent baseline jobs in 2028. With the addition of medium to high probability jobs, these numbers increased up to a peak of 36,300 in 2028. The baseline jobs most likely to be performed in the U.S. include project development and management, supply and installation of electrical substations and subsea cable, and wind farm operation and maintenance; whereas the medium to high probability jobs include a manufacturing sector workforce.

This webinar featured a presentation on the study’s methodology and detailed findings by report author Alun Roberts from BVG Associates. The webinar was hosted by Val Stori, Project Director at the Clean Energy States Alliance/ Clean Energy Group.

This webinar and report are part of the Roadmap Project for Multi-State Cooperation on Offshore Wind, undertaken in partnership with the states of New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, and the Clean Energy States Alliance.

This webinar was presented by Clean Energy Group for the Northeast Wind Resource Center. Find more information and resources at: www.northeastwindcenter.org
