The UNEP Sustainable Energy Finance Alliance (UNEP SEF Alliance) is the only global group of public clean energy funders. The Alliance is comprised of members in the OECD and developing countries with specialized, public-sector knowledge of finance for clean energy projects. At present, it consists of members that now control over $1 billion in public funds for investment in low-carbon technologies. These members have the most practical, hands-on expertise in the field. UNEP SEF Alliance activities focus on: joint projects, creation of new financial mechanisms, working with private investors, building in-country financial capacity in developing countries, developing real clean energy projects, and elevating the status of public investors so they can play a more influential role in international efforts around climate and clean energy. CEG now manages the Secretariat for the Alliance, based on its successful management of the Clean Energy States Alliance.
